Upcoming movies
Valkyrie Although this wasn't nominated for any category but i really wanna watch this. It is based on actual events and having studied history in sec sch i do know a bit about WWII. It is about a group of militants who are planning a coup d'état against Hitler but failed. It stars Tom Cruise. The Reader Another movie set in Germany post WWII. It talks about the relationship between the 2 main characters and despite falling in love, the female suddenly disappears only to re-surface 8 years later and her past is revealed. Stars Ralph Fiennes and Kate Winslet. She won Best Supporting Actress for her role in this movie at the Golden Globes. Revolutionary Road This stars Kate Winslet in another award winning role. She won Best Actress for this. Talks about her rocky relationship with her husband played by Leonardo Dicaprio and how they moved to France only to have their relationship deteriorate further. This movie reunites Kate and Leo after a decade. They were last seen in Titanic (duh). The Curious Case of Benjamin Button A very intriguing story about a man ageing backwards from the day he was born. He was born with the body of an old man and his body grows younger as he ages. The lead is played by none other than Brad Pitt. Cate Blanchett co-stars. Rachel Getting Married Rachel Getting Married is about the return of an estranged daughter to the family home for her sister's wedding. Her reemergence throws a wrench into the family dynamics, forcing long-simmering tensions to surface. Apparently, Anne Hathaway's performance was given rave reviews by the critics and i'm quite intrigued by her and how she has evolved from her princess diaries days. Looking forward to her performance in this show. Changeling Angelina Jolie stars as the mother whose son was kidnapped and when the police finally returns the boy, it turns out that it is not her son. She challenges the police and was slandered as an unfit mother. Starts tomorrow. =) Ok to be honest, i'm not sure if im going to catch ALL of them, with my finances hanging on a VERY THIN thread of late. But nonetheless, if i don't watch them on the big screen there are always other ways of catching them. hah. There are some other pretty intense movies too. Not too sure if they will all be screened here though. The Wrestler (the lead actor, Mickey Rourke won Best Actor) Gran Torino (directed and stars the legendary Clint Eastwood) Doubt Set in 1964, Doubt centers on a nun who confronts a priest after suspecting him abusing a black student. He denies the charges, and much of the play's quick-fire dialogue tackles themes of religion, morality and authority. The very talented Meryl Streep plays the lead. Suddenly there is such a huge flood of great movies because of the awards season. Wish they would space it out more instead of screening everything out just because the Oscars are coming up. Moving on from movies and onto television. i must say i f.u.c.k.i.n.g love Tina Fey. She is absolutely TALENTED and just brilliant. She's so damn funny and witty and she looks great too. i know this was quite a while back but did u see her impersonation of Sarah Palin on SNL last year? She was so SPOT ON man. was freakin hilarious stuff. Not only can she act, she started out as a writer on SNL actually. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FdDqSvJ6aHc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BE2gE-VVjBI She is the creator of 30 rock and also acts in it and she just rocks(pun intended). Its into its 3rd season and its seriously not bad, its quite funny, haha. Btw, 30 rock won Best Television Series, Best Performance by an actress in a television series (Tina Fey, woot!) and Best Performance by an actor in a television series (Alec Baldwin). Kudos to her, she absolutely deserves it. Her acceptance speech was probably the funniest of the night too. Suck it! Up next, the Oscars. |
